trouble with offsets, wheel widths and over fenders

after trawling the net trying to find some definative info on this subject ive come to the conclusion that there is none, lol.

anyway, my problem is that i was intending to get some origin oversized fenders (+20mm front and +50mm rear).

I know the wheels i want, here in 8.5F and 9.5R:

the only availale offsets are listed so im guessing that i may need spacers to match it perfectly but im getting conflicting info from people as to what offset to get. Can anyone here help please??

cheers

rich

Those wheel sizes are WAY too narrow for wide fenders IMO. It will look dumb, spacers or no.

Agreed, I run 295s on all for corners with spacers (not worth the headache if your not willing to do a lot of work. They still look skinny.

So let's see, you can run 10.5 front and 12.0 rear. This is my suggestion.

Offsets should be around +35 front and +25 rear.

I'd suggest tire sizes of 295/30/18 and 305/30/18 or 315/30/18. I think this will produce a good balance for the vehicle as well.

Now if you're looking to go for lip, stretched tires, and camber then that's a whole new ballgame. I do suggest that you have your tires and wheels ready before you test fit fenders.

Now if for some reason you cannot afford to purchase custom wheels I suggest not running the widebody. If you don't want to spend that much money on tires, the really wide rare ones, then we can run thinner wheels and lower offsets.

i.e. run the 255/35/18 all around in a 18x9.0 or 9.5. You'll need some pretty low offsets tho.

I totally agree, if your not going to pony up for the right size wheels don't bother it looks awful. If you are gonna run staggered sizes you will be dialing out some understeer as well. I run 295/35's on all fours with 25mm spacers, I prefer the sidewall. I would love to step up in size as I have the room but I'm not sure I want to yet. I don't know if I would saee any add benifit versus weight.

Yo S, did you have any issues with the front fender arch? It has a limited radius and i've had problems running 275/35 or 245/40/18 up front. What did you do?

Thanks, rishie

Unless you running a set of wide fenders ie feed, RE, etc and want to do some serious reworking of things I wouldn't think of doing it. I had to modify the headlight area + run flush mount lights, modify and reroute the wiring harness both sides, modify the front edge of the fender radius, modify the rear inner area, remove and make custom fender liners, etc. It was a lot of work, the plus side is I can run a large rim up front if I choose and I essentially have a a 2" wider track. When I get the whole thing repainted and such I will post some pics.

Ok I thought so. I was like, damn how the hell did you do that. lolz.

OK SO I TAKE THIS BACK. 285/30/18 front, is going to max out your available fender radius. Retract the 295/30/18 recommendation.

Yep 285/30-18 is it. Even then if you set your ride height too low it may still rub. I may jump up to 305's all around. I just really like the BFG KDs and I get a unbeatable deal on them and michelin. Also michelin would mean a jump up to 315's all around while I think I have the room to fit it(front) I'm not sure it's worth it.
