I once saw an FD with wheels that had a titanium "lip" on them. I believe the photo i had seen was at Tokyo Auto Salon. Just wondering if anyone had pics of these? I believe the set i saw were Volks. thanks!

 

I wish they made a lip out of diamonds so curb rash could be a thing of the past. Sharp jagged curves would be more prevalent though.

That's exactly what it is, a titanium coat that's heat-treated. There's a few makes available here in the UK, Clive from Mazda Rotary Club has some on his '8 like this;

Schmidt rims are harder than a coffin nail but have the unfortunate side effect of a) looking utterly cack and b) making you look like a frustrated VW owner, which is never a good thing lol

 

Yeah, there's always a down side... ;-)
