tires deflated but still holds air

not sure if this is the right section, but last night, i ran over a wooden crate at the freeway going 80mph, and as i stoped to see if anything was damage, my tire pressure went down to 20psi, when it had 32psi. so now i inflated it back up to 32psi, and it hasn't deflated as of yet.

the question is, howed it deflate? did i somehow hit the crate soo hard, that tire has lost air for a second and resealed itself?

Tires lose air over time. Have you checked the pressure in your other tires to see if they have deflated any since you filled them to 32psi before the incident? My point here is just that perhaps the tire wasn't at 32psi immediately preceding the crate incident. If it leaked down to 25psi on it's own, and acquired a small leak, or the tread deformation from hitting the crate caused a leak (new or existing) to open up a bit, that may explain why the tire went down to 20 psi.

How long has it held air since you refilled it? Maybe it's a slow leak. Look for a nail or something in the tread. You can also spray on some soapy water and look for bubbles to check for leaks.

I don't know how possible this is, but perhaps the crate incident caused a momentary leak where the tire meets the rim.

i actually checked all my tire pressure before i went out to work, then on the way home was the crate incident. they all read 32psi before, and i've have checked all and they still remain the same, except for the one wheel.

yea, what im thinking is that the impact flexed the tires to the point where air came out.

alright, think i found out the problem. the crate incident bented my wheels, sooo, after inflating it, it SLOWLY looses pressure as i drive, so im guessing some air is getting out of the bent part as i drive.

^ Yep.

If there's a leak at the bead then as the tire rolls and flexes the leak will be worse than when the car is parked.

$100ish is typical of every wheel shop I've ever heard of.
