Tire width
Hey guys, i have a '86 N/A with Motegi Racing MR-7's 15X6.5's
on those i have now Pirelli Vizzola P8000's 195/60/R15
I looked on the Motegi website trying to find how wide i can go on my rims... still cant figure it out
Question: Does anyone know on 6.5 inch rims how wide i can go? I am thinking 215's as the widest but like i said I really am not sure. Any help would be great.
also i was wondering if i reduced it also to a 55 or 50 instead of a 60 i.e. 215/50/15 if that is fesible. it would leave a bigger gap in the wheel well so i would eventually lower the car to compensate. I am just throwing some ideas around.
thanks

WiLd,
The best way to see what will fit is to go to the Specs pages for various tire models you are interested in on the TireRack.com web site. Look at the diameter of the stock tires, and then try to find wider tires that have a recommended rim width that includes 6.5" (like 6-8" or 6.5-8", but not 7-9" or 7.5-9", for instance) that isn't much different (within 1/2" or so) in diameter.
Then as a final check, I would suggest posting the tire size you are considering (especially if the diameter is larger than stock) to see if anyone has feedback on the specific size you are considering.
Note that there is a fair amount of variation in actual dimensions for different tires that have the same "nominal" size (e.g. 215/60-16). There is also some variation in recommended rim widths. Hopefully you can find a tire size and model that fits your rims without being too far off in diameter.
