tie rods loose?
I went to get my wheels aligned, and they said they couldn't align them 'cause the tie rods were loose. Any way to fix this? What new parts will I need?
Also, I was wondering if perhaps this might be what causes my steering wheel to vibrate a lot past 75 mph. Any ideas?

yes, they are correct and the vibration is very likely to be due to the bad tie rod end.
each side has two tie rod ends, an inner and an outer. either can go bad. when one goes bad i like to replace both at the same time. the parts are relatively inexpensive and companies such as MOOG typically include a lifetime warranty on the part.
Doing the job is pretty simple for either the inner or the outter. only takes about 30 minutes to do both at the same time, you might be charged for an hour of labor for both, though.
if you want to know how to do it yourself PM me and i'll let you know what you're in for. in any case you will most certainly need to have the wheels aligned once the job is done as this will severely affect your toe settings.
