thanks howard for the good info. that's the kind of replies i like to see. i probably wouldn't mind the RA setup, but i drive on the street too much and i also drag race frequently. i see the flex fitting my style a lot better. i'll let ya know how i like em when i finally get them and can get them dialed in

there is a lot of knowledge getting put out here but not a lot of reading. there is no doubt that howard is correct about his spring rates for his type of racing. but before talking about drag racing, spoolin said he autocrossed, not road raced. howard even said he knew little about those spring rates. i really don't think tein would make a useless spring rate.

As you probably could of guessed; hell no Quick turn in doesn't do a damned thing for you if the tire is just going to become overloaded and give up as soon as the weight transfers onto it, which happens a few nanoseconds after turn in

Cars with lots of aero run high wheel rates for the sole purpose of maintaining the chassis at the optimum position in rake and ride height. There mechanical grip completely sucks until the downforce kicks in at speed. That's why the third spring was such a wonderful invention...

98 Type RS, no offense, but you are way out of your league debating spring rates with Howard...he has 22 years of SCCA RACING experience.

I also don't recall any of the top auto-x FDs in the US running spring rates that high. More is not always better.

So you drag also, everything I have heard says you want soft springs in the back, so the rear gets down quick and stays there, instead of bouncing hard on the springs and promoting wheel hop?

Sounds like you are determined to get these, while everything I have read here about auto-x and other things (from people who have been auto-x and tracking the 7 for years) says you are going way too hard. I have never seen any auto-xer recommending a spring rate above 600.

It shouldn't matter though, Tein will probably be pretty cool about swapping them for some realistically sprung springs.

Type 98 RS, there has been plenty of misinformation posted here also, mostly from you.

Good. Between Howard, Rynberg, Damon, Manny/SleepR1, MaxCooper and CrispyRX, you really aren't going to find better sources of FD suspension info anywhere. They track their 7s hard. JimLab just likes to look at his parts
