Hey now. My front right damper that I bought the car with popped, so I'm in the market for a new-and-improved setup. I've done some reading to see what would suit me, but I want to be certain it isn't something I will regret investing time and money in after purchasing/installing.


Driving Situation: Garaged for weekend driving.
Driving style: Coastal highways, anything which has a tight corner I can challenge myself and my car with.
Currently installed: Yellow Bilsteins (dealer receipt doesn't show what kind).
Desired setup: Tein Flex (what I've read is has the proper spring rate suitable for the FD)

Any suggestions regarding a better alternative setup (and why!) would be greatly appreciated. Tia!

 

Whats wrong with a decent set of shocks like Konis? Tein Flex coil over kit is a bit overkill for a weekend warrior. Great for a track junkie though.

 

I actually would suggest TEIN Type Flex. Ive had them on both my FDs. They're full coilovers, and the dampening is 16-way adjustable. I run it on the FD that I drive every day. Commuting is fine, occasional drifting is smooth and well-controlled, taking girls out elicits no complaints, and I don't have to worry (read: spend time/effort) about having to switch to my "race setup" for the track.

We both know San Francisco has lots of potholes and uneven pavement that our tax dollars will never fix, yet with the Flex coilovers the ride is never harsh. In fact the ride is much more comfortable and much less bouncy than my friend's *stock* 06 Sti.

I don't consider Flex's over-the-top at all.
