suspension question

I just installed a set of Koni Yello's and eibach springs on the FD this week. I left for deployment today, but I lifted the front end up and put it on Jack stands so a friend could use my wheels to move his car around the shop while i was gone. Either way, I noticed that when the suspension didnt have any weight on it, the springs had about a half inch to a inch gap between the perchs on the shocks and the top of the mounts. Its to late to take a picture, but just imagine being able to stick your hand in there and move the spring up or down a half inch.

this might be how it is, and how the springs drop the ride, I dont know thats why Im asking if it is suppose to be that way.... Any help would be appreciated.

^ I assume that means thats how its suppose to be? Well thats conforting, I never realized that the springs would have any space, I thought they would be a tight fit like the stock suspension. Thanks
