suspension???
hey, i just bought my first 87 rx7. I just crossed over from the bimmer world and was wondering what are some good setups you guys have for your fc's? im looking for somthing that i can drive on everyday. I was looking at Megan Coilovers from ebay. Any body have any experience with these? any other set ups? any help is always appreciated. thanks

For daily driving I'd generally steer clear of coilovers in general, since even the soft ones are still 2 or 3 times as stiff as stock. I run coilovers on my DD, but that's because I track it a fair bit too and am willing to put up with the worse ride in exchange for more track performance. If you've got your mind set on some coilovers, be VERY careful of the cheap stuff, since most is cheap for a reason. Some good budget minded setups for coilovers would be KYB AGX's with Ground Control coilover sleeves and camber plates, or substitute some Konis in there for better (but more expensive) shocks. Some good all in one kits would be Stances or Tein Flex (my favorite budget setup, it's what I use). Also keep in mind that if you lower it beyond about 1" in the rear you will need to invest in a camber adjuster to get rid of the excess negative camber, they run at about $100.
For normal street use something like Racing Beat springs for a bit of lowering on something like KYB AGX's and maybe some stiffer sways would be a good setup. Also consider replacing all your bushings and driveline mounts which will help to tighten up the car a bunch. Some DTSS eliminator bushings will be a good investment too, since the stock ones are definetely worn out.

i think i might go for tokico illumina shocks and ground control coilovers w/ eibach springs to start with. i also might get new shock and strut mounts. although i dont know if i really need those.........

ok. a couple of things
black91n/a has it dead on. if you dont mind putting up with the horrible DD, then a decent set of coilovers would be a good investment. after that i would start looking into other parts as well. but, if you dont get coilovers i would do this setup
1) tokico illumina
2) either eibach springs (linear coil springs) or tokico springs (same reason)
if you cant find those, i would go racing beat springs or tanabe springs. a couple of problems with those
1) variable springs have more clearance issues due to the progressively widening winding of the springs. i have the tanabe sustec gf210 and love them.
2) the spring rate isnt constant throughout the springs due to the shaping, but provide just as much load capacitance as linear springs.
ground control i would be VERY careful with due to the warnings that tokico issues. DO NOT USE WITH ILLUMINAS, it will void the warrenty and can cause the shock to go out sooner.
a couple more things. whenever you lower your car, try to get the camber adjustment bolt. you will throw off your camber by ~2.2 degrees, wear the **** out of the inside of the tire, and obviously whenever you change suspension anything GET AN ALIGNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Eibach springs are progressive, RB's are linear. The springs that give clearance issues in front are the Tein and Tanabes, others don't seem to have those issues.
