By all accounts and searches, 18x8.5 F, 18x9.5 R with +35 offset is not a good fit for an FD, however I've come across different vendors some local and some who sell wheels on Ebay who claim that +35 or even +32 with those widths will work. While I'd like that to be the case, I highly doubt it. If there are any people who may have tried either of those two offsets, likely with rolled fenders, I'd like to hear from you. For tires, I plan to run 245 in the front and 275 in the rear. I really like the M-classics in hyperblack, but it seems that either those wheels don't come in anything of the +38 to +42 persusasion, or the vendors that I spoke with overgeneralize to flog a more common offset.

 

You could probably run those offsets, but you'll most likely need to run smaller tires than you are wanting. A lot of it will also have to do with your suspension. Here's a 17x9 +43 with 255's:

the rears are 17x10 +38 with a 275 40 17
and I have room to spare.

Darryl, as I told you previously I am going to roll my fenders this weekend using my cousin's fender rolling tool. I am sure I can get you access to it if you decide to stop being a wuss and roll those bad boys.

I'd actually love to know if +35 with my tire and wheel sizes will work if I roll my fenders. I'll gladly roll my fenders if that's the case. I was hoping to have someone confirm that with a "yep, got that on my car and it works"

 

The problem is, what works on one car may not work on another unless you have the exact same suspension setup and/or alignment.

Some guys run crazy camber to fit wheels, some guys run a very hard suspension to avoid rubbing. There are too many combinations to say "yes it will" or "no it won't".

If you bought all that stuff, could you "make it work" if you have a problem? Answer is yes, but it all depends in how much you want to do to "make your car fit the wheels" rather than "buying wheels which fit the car".

I should have mentioned that I'm blessed with various options for suspension design & setup, as it's right up my alley. Springs and dampers are not a problem at all, and I can design my coilovers around any tire/wheel setup. I'm also not interested in crazy camber. I looked at ScrappyDoo's setup the other day and I believe he's running +40 with (apparently) some more capacity. That's why I wondered if +35 would work.

In terms of fender rolling, I don't have a huge objection there, but I just want to make sure it's done for the right reason, if at all.

boring..... ha, j/k I know what you mean. Sometimes its nice to have **** fit, but IMHO wheels make or break a car, and sunk wheels are great at 'breaking' a car (to me).

 

For a street car, that's fine. However, some road course will not let you on the track if your wheels are outside of the fenders (or too close to call). If you've ever seen wheel to wheel contact for open wheel racers, you'll understand why it's an issue for them. So it all depends on what you do with the car as to what's possibly appropriate or not.

RDturbo, just to clarify I am running 18x9.5 +45 Enkei RPF1. My car does not rub at all when driving around the city but I have to enter a parking garage at work that has a very steep incline, and I also have to enter at an awkward angle. My front tire pulled on the inside of the fender lip. Hence why I am rolling.

I know of others running the same width but +38 offset and they have to roll to drive anywhere. You are looking at 3mm more room, which I think would be possible after rolling and adjusting of the inner liner. But definately not without.

 

I'd get the wheels and make them fit.. Check my "birthday present" thread in this section. I'm running 18x8.5 front with like 30 offset and 255s. All I had to do was slightly roll the fronts and raise the front a tad..

My rear are 45 offset with 275s but I didn't have to touch the fenders. So you could get 35s to fit with a roll.

 

Thanks guys....I'll scrap the 35 idea....I'll go with what's tried and true. I wish those damned ADR M-Classics came in a 40-45 offset though....

Sexy wheels, I'm sure a wheel snob will chime in though and say their too heavy and will make your car too slow. Or a DorRiFtO wanna be will tell you you need to have some 10" wide wheels up front with 0 offset and to stretch a 205 on there and run 5 degrees of camber with a roll and pull so it looks "Gangsta". Opinions are opinions though.
