squeaking brakes
What causes squeaking brakes besides worn pads? I'm having a sharp squeak when at very low speeds coming from (I think) the back brakes (can't tell which side). I have Hawk HPS pads and they are in good shape and only about 6 months old. Everything *looks* fine with all my brakes, but I really do not know what to look for . Any ideas? Thanks.

Squeaks come from either the wear indicators or the pads vibrating inside the caliper. In that case the squeak noise actually results from the vibrating of the backsides of the pads where they touch the piston or caliper.
My last set of HP+ sometimes made weird noises from the rear and IMO it was because the size of the backing plates didn't allow them to fit tightly enough inside the caliper; they could move around and vibrate. It seemed to come and go.
