Springs VS Shocks??

Some of you have explained to me that shocks will not have an impact on Body roll. You say that springs control it along with the anti-sway bars.
Ok....so what do shocks do?

Shocks damp the motion of the springs. If the spring was by itself and you squeezed it and then released, it would keep vibrating up and down. Ever seen a car on the highway that seems to be floating like the Love Boat down the road with a gentle up and down motion? That's worn out shocks.

The shocks essentially absorb some of the energy from the spring as it releases and keeps it from banging the wheel back into the pavement; they prevent the suspension from oscillating every time you hit a bump.

They can also be used to tune the transient qualities of the suspension, but they are still doing the same job.
