Smallest (width wise) tire on 17x8

im gonna pick up a set of 2001/2002 Stang GT 17x8" wheels for my FC, the stock size on them is 245/45/17, i want to put 215/40 or 215/45's on them, will 215's fit on the 17x8's?? or are they not wide enough??

thanks

Check Tire Rack or Discount Tire. Look at the tire specs as it tells you the answer.

215/45's will be on the narrow side but they will work. That's about as narrow as you can get with that aspect ratio. 215/40's might not have enough side wall to stretch out much.

Check the specs on the tires you choose. Dimensions change from tire brand to brand and even tire model to model from the same manufacturer. I had 225/50/16 Yokohama AVS-i and A-032R side by side. The A-032R were about 3/4" narrower. Check the specs always if you think there might be an issue with fitment.
