slicks and wheels for FC size recommendations

Im thinking of buying a set of wheel and slicks from drag racing so I dont have to use my road race tires and wheels.

looking for recommnedations on what size tire and wheel to get.
last time I went the track I use a set of Ari's old slicks
but they where 28X10X16 and bearly fit on my car.

what to get the right size to get the most out of the car.
someone told me that if I had 26X10X16 instead of the 28's I would have run a better time
I ran 11.9 @ 117

Im thinking of 26X10X16 or maybe 24's
or what about 26X10X15 and use a 15 inch wheel.

next about the wheels I wanna get the right size
but not being a pro drag racer I need some help to pick out the right gear!!!!

Thanks
Tony

I bought mine used and they are Bogart drag only rims (8lbs each) 15x8 size. I run M/T slicks 26x8.5. I expect these to support mid 10 second timeslips and have gone 11.60's@114mph so far.

I would run a 26" tire and not the 24" size. The taller the tire.... the wider the footprint.

I've heard a 10.5" tire will fit out back.... but I'm not sure of the offset.

Just run stock 3rd gen or '89-91 2nd gen T2 rims out back and get 26x8.5/16 slicks. I'm pretty sure one of the tire manufacturers makes them. Cheaper rims than getting drag specifice units.

Email Chrisspeed in FL. He will know what size to get.

here is the 28X10X16 that Ari let me use.
they are kinda too wide. as when the car
sank down on the 1st luanch it ate a little of the side wall.
so back in the pits I had to BFH ( hammer) and beat out my rear fenders so it would fit. once that was done I didnt have any problem running them.
but they where too tall.

ok in doing some research on tires I picked
Im down to these to tires

MickyT ET drag
26X8.5X15 24.9 tall
Hoosier Drag Slicks C05 compound
26x9.0-15 26.4 tall

on 15X8 wheel
now I need to find some 15X8 wheels that are light weight.

which slicks is better and why and is 24.9 tall better than 26.4 tall?

Thanks

I believe Bogarts are the lightest. But they are track only and not for the street.

If the 26.4 tire fits that will give you the largest footprint. You may also want to do some calculations as the taller tire also affects overall rear gear ratio and allows you to run more more mph in each gear but at a penalty of slightly slower acceleration;

Good luck.
