Shock top hats?

I remember a little while ago i had read on this forum or one of the rx7 forums about the best upper shock mounts for the fd. They said something about pillow ball mounts not being the best and that someone had taken car of the upper mount problem. I have searched and searched for several weeks now and had no luck in trying to find it. Can anyone send me to the right locations so i can get the right part please.

Stock and pillow ball are both fine. One makes for a slightly rougher ride(pillow ball). The OEM are softer. Since the FD uses double wish bone and multi link there really aren't any performance benefits to the pillow ball. I just use them because that's what my shocks came with.

stock is a pillowball design

you can get stock upper shock mounts from the same place everyone here gets stock parts - Ray Crowe. Check the 3rd gen FAQ for his contact info.

I disagree.

This is a pic of a ground control sleeve using bushing type top shock mounts:

The damage is caused by the spring bending under load.
This leads to some unpredictable behavior from the suspension.

The top mounts are now TriPoint Pillow Ball Upper Mounts

The GC kit has been replaced with Koni sleeves - Koni offers a more complete setup than does Ground Control.
