Rolling resistance...

Well, im having a problem with my 87 TII. Im positive the brakes are sticking a bit but im wondering what could cause it. I can be rolling down a slight hill in neutral and the car will either not gain speed or slowly lose speed.

Already have some hawk HPS pads ordered and I plan on regreasing the wheel bearings if possible and changing the brake fluid (think I should spring for Motul? )

Any ideas as to what I should do? Sometimes they do disengage enough to where the car just screams and I dont have to get into boost just to get her going....any help MUCH appreciated!

I'm basing this on a 3rd gen, cause that's all I know and you haven't gotten any help yet...

Assuming you're not coasting at such a high speed that wind resistance is slowing you, that's a puzzle. Obviously, if the brakes are sticking, it would do it. Since it's sporadic, I'd guess it could be the rear caliper bolts that are supposed to be greased to allow the caliper to slide along and engauge the brakes. I'd imagine if you didn't have grease on those they'd stick in the brakes "on" position sporadically...

Just one idea, hope it helps...

Definitely (if the Rx-7 Store gets my Hawk pads out by then). I fixed the sticking though. The pistons had enough rust on them to stick a bit so I worked them back and forth with a c-clamp and WD-40 for 30 mins and they freed right up. I'll probably rebuild or at least properly remove the rust during the brake job.

In my original post I was basically just wondering what the best type of wheel bearing grease is, and if my wheel bearings could be worn and causing increased rolling resistance. Thanks for the input so far though
