Rim Question

I have the petit flares on my 93 R1. Petit reccommends a 12.5 inch wide rim. That's way too big, and I know with the right offset I could fill up the fenders with say a 10 or 10.5. Anyone happen to know anyone with this setup?? I'm just curious on the offsets. Thanks for the help in advance. If no one knows, if they do know how to measure offset for a potential rim, that would be helpful, so I know what to order.

Thanks again

Mike

Why is that too big?

Seriously, try to get the offset that Pettit uses for their 12.5" rim. We can work backwards from there. A 18x10 +50 offset fits the stock bodywork and suspension. Most likely, an 18x11 wheel would work well with a mid 20s to mid 30s offset.

Call Pettit or the previous owner to verify.

They're not too big....for a viper lol. The main reason is because I dont' feel like replacing $546 michelin pilot sports every 20,000 miles. The owner was an idiot and didn't even know the offset. I'll have to call petit to figure it out. Yeah 11 is the biggest I wanna go. Plus I think the rims are damn ugly, I don't like chrome. Thanks for the help, we'll figure it out.

Question

Errrr... why did you even bother getting the wide fenders if you didn't plan to run wide-*** rims with wide-*** tires?

He bought the car as-is: with the Pettit flares, without the "ugly" wheels.

Anyway, once you get the offset from Pettit, let us know and we'll figure it out. 295/30s on a 18x11 would be tasty....

if you go with a 11 wide wheel i've been told a 12mm works perfectly with the pettit flares.

LOL.... I just stumbled upon this thread and the others about the gaudy big wheels. I must say this was the first negative comment I've ever heard about the forgelines. They don't work well with a stock 2 rotor, but I had no complaints with the single turbo setup. good luck with your build up mike.

here is the gaudy car.

The forgelines just don't do it for me personally, no offense to anyone who has them, and I do retract my statement about the 'idiot' part. I was frustrated in finding the right size and offset combo for the flares. I decided on SSR Professor SP1's in black with a polished lip. The Offsets are 18x8.5 +40 in the front and 18x11.5 +0 in the rear. I will most likely be running 245's up front and 305's or 335's in the rear. I have also dumped the stock twins in favor of a Garrett GT35R. The car is in for paint right now getting the flares smoothed in also. I will post pics when it comes together.
