Replacing Brake Fluid

I wanted to make my brakes work better for longer. Can I put a superior DOT fluid in? Do I just open up the lines and drain it, then replace it with the new stuff? Will this majorly affect anything?

I suggest you do a search on how to properly replace fluid/bleed the brakes. It takes two people to bleed the brakes for one thing, so you'll need a helper.

What is the problem with your brakes that you are trying to fix?

One man bleeders have been available for along time.

He doesn't have speed bleeders, so it will take two people. I've read from several sources that the "one-man" power bleeders are good for speeding up the bleed process but are no substitute for a proper two-person bleed.

For brake fluid, replace it all with Ford DOT 3 fluid, it has the highest boiling point of any fluid that you're apt to find at a auto parts store (it's 550 degrees Farenheight I beleive). You have to spend alot more money, and go to alot more trouble to get fluid that'll boil just a little degrees higher. Many racers use this fluid, and I used it at a track day and never had fade.

one person can bleed brakes even w/o speedbleeders. i use a clear bottle 1/4 full fluid and piece of vac hose, one end submersed, the other pushed onto the bleeder, open bleeder and pump pedal til bubbles stop, close bleeder. keeping the other end submersed doesn't allow air to be sucked back in when u let off the pedal. just make sure to keep check on the fluid level.
