Repainting Center Caps

Has anyone repainted their center caps. If so please list the steps you took. I am getting my rims Powdercoated and I would like to paint some matching center caps.

Thanks,
Chris

hey man this is off topic, I know you're into techno, what do you think of Oakenfold's new album? I love track 2 "western sun" but otherwise I'm REALLY disappointed. There are no transitions to speak of btwn tracks, and the lyrics are really simple

I don't think there are any special steps here... just sand, prime, and paint the color of your choice. The only thing that is a pain in the butt is taping the chrome plastic lug nuts. Took about an hour to tape all four caps when I did mine.

First off there were are two styles of center caps for the 93-95 fd (also Miata & MX6) wheel, one is cast aluminum and the other plastic. for the Aluminum one I would suggest bead blasting & powder coat along with the rims, but since you are asking I will assume you have the much more common plastic version like I have - I just scrubbed mine with a stiff brush to remove all the loose paint then sanded the face of the embossed logo smooth and then primered & painted them. I painted mine black as an accent on my stock silver rims, But if you are going with a black or dark gunmetal color rim, I would suggest a bright silver on the cap. I find that the middle of the srock wheel is rather plain if the cap is the same color as the wheel.
