rebuilding koni yellows

i have heard from ppl that koni yellows have a lifetime waranty.. is there any truth to this? i have a set on my car that i purchased used about 4 years ago and i suspect one or more of them are blown. does anyone have any experience in dealing with koni on waranty claims?
am i screwed without a reciept?
any thing i should avoid telling them once i contact them?

thanks in advance
Roan

At least take it off and check it first. A blown shock will typically have no dampening, so when its on the car the spring is the only thing to cushion the bumps.

Roan, where did you buy them? Assuming you bought them new, you may want to contact the shop that sold them to you and ask about getting a warranty claim through them. They'll get you a claim # and you'll send them in. Koni will check them out and fix if its bad and send them back to you. That is the way I did it once many years ago.

Without a receipt you are basically SOL unless the shop hooks you up some how or you get lucky.

Of course you'll want to check it first as Mahjik pointed out.

I don't think so and have never heard such. You can send them back to Koni for a rebuild or TrueChoice also rebuilds Koni's. I just had some done a few months ago, Lee Grimes at Koni is who I dealt with. Oh, and yes I paid $$ for this!

Yes, Koni has a lifetime warranty. They fixed a 3-year old shock for me about 3 years ago. I had purchased through Tire Rack so my purchase info was online.

good to hear rynberg. when you contacted koni, did they ask you for a reciept? or was it an easy 'just mail it in' transaction?
