rear big brakes?????

i was wondering if anyone has heard of anyone else doing this to their fc? i was planning on having my friend , who owns a machine shop, make me a bracket that will allow me to bolt up the stock 4 piston turbo II calipers to the rear.i i have hawk hp plus pads on the car right now but was planning on getting full race up front and having the hp plus in the rear . the only down side to this i think would be is that the rear brakes might lock up under heavy braking. which is why i wanted the street pad in the rear and race up front so it doesnt throw the braking balance off too much. let me know what you guys think.

it sounds fairly pointless

if you do this, use a brake bias proportioner to set your brake bias

I wouldn't bother. There are several reasons why it wouldn't be necessary and would probably hurt your braking performance.

If you MUST have bigger rear brakes then there's an off the shelf solution, and it's not that expensive.

http://corksport.com/store/category/...rx-Brakes.html (fist product)

You should only get bigger rear brakes (rotors or calipers) if you've massively upgraded the fronts (something like a 13" big brake kit). If you don't have a lot of extra braking in the front you'll just lock up the rears all the time and your stopping distances will increase dramatically because of it. It'll be very dangerous, don't do it. Besides, the rear brakes only do about 20% of the work anyway.

Do you really need bigger brakes anyway? Can you lock the tires now? If so they're not needed, unless you're track driving and fade them and have tried all the usual fixes (high temp fluid, race pads, air ducts). I've seen test after test where bigger brakes make cars stop in longer distances, their strength is fade resistance.

On another note, race pads have no place on the street. I've used HP+ and Porterfield R4's (full race pad) on track and have driven the car to and from. Beleive me, race pads are no good on the street. Sure they work, but they're very noisy and incredibly dusty, plus when cold they absolutely tear up rotors. Use street pads on the street and race pads on the track, neither one has any place in the other's domain.
