A quick which tire thread.

I caught some very nice curb with my Probe and destroyed 2 tires and 2 rims. After looking at options I decided to try and stay fairly cheap and am picking up a used set of FDs. I still need tires though and it seems the more people I talk to about options the more diverse the answers I get are. Anyone have any opinions on some reasonably cheap rubber. (I've decided it's time to go after my next sports car and want to keep this reasonably low budget.) Thanks.

If your only concern is cheap, just phone around to the local tire places and see who has the cheapest tire in the correct size.

One of the more popular "cheap" tire is the Yokohama ES100.

Cheap isnt the only concern. I also want something decent. But Im not looking to spend a couple hundred a tire. Im hoping to stay right around 100 bucks a tire. That help a bit more?

Just so you know, you'll need spacers to fit the FD wheels on your probe. Anyway, the ES100 is prbably the best tire you are going to get for that price. Right behind it would be the Kuhmo 712, but they wont give quite as good dry traction.

Agreed on the spacers. Im looking for some cheap 3mm spacers temporarily til I can get H&Rs to me. Only need em on the rear. Actually tooling around with the idea of seeing if we can't make some at the machine shop at my company. Frankly I dont see why not.

Both tires you mentioned have been recommended. Also Nittos, Hankook venturis , and Avenis. Not really sure what to do. I just bought my dads Truck since they wouldnt give him **** on trade in so Ive got winter and rain covered. I just need dry tar traction.
