Exclamation quick question about lug nuts/locks

How will you go about removing a stripped lug nut ?

in relation, if some monkey tried to attempt to take out a lug lock without the proper key wrench and damaged the lock, how can it be removed

thanks !

Well, they sell special sockets that have "teeth" inside to grip fastners with broken or nonexistent heads (e.g., studs). I've also heard of people hammering a socket on to the damaged nut.

If it was me, I'd call a wheel shop and ask their advice. They must run into the problem occasionally.

What artowar said? Do it the ghetto way. IT's the only way. The tool is useful depending on the style of lock.

thanks guys, I did it the ghetto way and forced it.

Next time, I will make sure I am watching when someone works on my car

The nuts were overtighten with an impact gun when I bought new tires a few months ago. Then when I took it to get a tire rotation (real purpose was to let them loosen the lug nuts so I can work on my brakes) the kids (picture Jiffy Lube rookies) who had no idea what they were doing had a hard time putting the lug nuts back on. I then tried getting them off and did all but 1 lug nut on each rear wheel. To make a long story short, I got the driver's side off with a smaller socket, but I had to snap off the stud from the passenger side. So I had to take the rotor off and place in some new studs

all this hassle because of some punks who have no business working on cars.
