Quick FC3S 4 POT Brakes Q.

I just got Hawk pads and they fit great, real easy to put it, but i want to know if i need those stupid little wire clips that go in top of the pads (not the ones on the back of the caliper that hold the pins in)? It seems the hawks are a little taller and the wire clips dont fit well (very insecure) do i really need them?

do the wire clips keeps the pads off the rotars or something? i cant figure it out

They are supposed to help keep the pads off the rotors, thus prevent squealing. Mine broke, but I think you can get some anti squeal stuff at the parts store

If you don't use them the pads can drag, causing them to wear out faster and will heat up a bunch too. That is bad. It's best to put them in, but it's not like the brakes won't work without them.

Which Hawks? I've used the HP+ and they can be a bit noizy, but they dust like crazy. The HPS are supposedly better. Try bedding them in well, that should help reduce the noize.
