Quick backspacing question
So I'm looking at a set of rims and the guy trys to describe the offset liek this:
Sorry no markings on back of rims so I measured from back of hub to inside edge of rim as follows: Front rims 7 1/4 inch Rear rims 7 3/4 inch.
I'm not familiar with inche offset so what does that translate into? Anywya these could fit an (maybe widebody) FD, front wheel is 17x10 and rear is 17x11.5.

Since backspacing is measured relative to the actual wheel width and not the tire bead width, you must account for that. 10" wheels aren't 10" wide. Wheels are typically about 1" wider than the bead width. So, the offsets are probably something like this:
Front:
(7.25" backspace - ((10" + 1" wheel width) / 2)) * 25.4 mm/inch = 44.45mm
Rear:
(7.75" backspace - ((11.5" + 1" wheel width) / 2)) * 25.4 mm/inch = 38.1mm
A 17" wheel with 7.75" of backspacing is likely to (will) rub the trailing link on the FD. But you can reduce the backspacing with a spacer. And/or you can increase the clearance by using a trailing link with a smaller section and with the body side of the link spaced over toward the middle of the car. I am not sure just how much space that provides, but it might be enough to clear the wheel with 7.75" backspacing. If not, you might need a 1/4" or 3/8" spacer. I think that 17" CCWs typically have 7.375" of backspacing for the rear, so a 3/8" spacer should fit with the stock traling link.
The backspacing on the front is probably fine.
