question about race tires

SO tomorrow there is an auto-x race and i don't want to spend an hour putting on the spacers and wheels and adjusting the suspension in the am...so i was wondering if it would be a bad idea to put the wheels on my car tonight and drive with them to the race.

it is about 15 miles from my house and the tires are r compound. there is about 50% tread after about 4-6 races on them. will it be too far to drive on these tires and still expect another 4 races out of them?

I believe that most of the wear on tires comes once they warm up. If you go early in the morning before the road gets too hot and drive slowly and take take the corners easy, it should be ok. It also depends on how soft they are. The michelin r's would fare a lot better than hoosiers, for example.

well, they are the hoosiers so i don't think i'll do it this time. it's late and i'm tired so i suppose i can wake up at 6:30 and do it once i get to the track/lot. i'll be willing to bet i actually beat some of the super stock cars tomorrow, we shall see.

Drive them on the street to the events. They wont get hot enough road driving to wear much. I could go on...........but it is not an issue.

Good luck
