Question about FD rims, not your usual question though and I did search
Alright, I am looking into getting some FD rims for my FC. I know a guy who lives close by to me and has an FC with FD rims on his car that he wants to get rid of. I know you need the 25mm spacers to make them fit and all that. But I asked him what size of spacers he has on to make them fit, and he said the guy who installed them on the car (previous owner) had modified the FD rims so you would not need a spacer. He said the rims had been cut and rewelded so they were not as wide and would fit without spacers.
I wanna know, is that even possible to do with a rim and would cutting and rewelding so not as wide allow them to fit on the FC? And if it would allow it to fit without spacers, is it safe to cut a rim and reweld so its not as wide? Or should I just stay away from these rims completely?
If he is wrong and spacers were used then I am gonna get them off him probably, but will see. Any info on this would be great.

it is possible to have that done, but i would stay away from those because you don't know the workmanship of the guy who did the welding...it could turn out very, very badly
but if he has the spacers and that was what was used, get them - they look great.

I wouldnt take the chances with that. I would just get a set of rims off of somebody used and buy the spacers. It's not that much for a nice set of good looking lightweight set of rims.

Yeah I am gonna look into it more, if they are welded then I am gonna not bother, but if spacers were used then I will take them. I also just remembered about a guy locally who restores FD's and always has a couple wrecked ones sitting around, I am sure he will have a set of rims....as long as he is willing to sell them that is :p
Thanks for the info guys.
