Question Potenza or ???

I have been running (on stock rims) Potenza's 730's and now only use the car on the street. Looking for a tire that has a little more grip with the road. I have used shaved Toyo RA1's for Mid-Ohio with good success. Any comments?

The wheels are Borbet 16" x 7-1/2". The Potenza's are 245's all around. The original tires (Aug 1992) were Dunlap that also looked like they were shaved. Got the best grip and 45,000 miles out of them. By the time they needed to be replaced, Dunlop quit making them. Don't need them for the track as I bought a 1st Gen that purpose.

Don't buy the Yoko ES100. They suck, and you will be very dissapointed. I had the 730's. I liked them except for the noise. I now have the 750's, and am happy with them. No noise, and similar handling to the 730. I don't think the 750 offers more grip than the 730.

I agree the 730's are noisy.

Lou, any reason for going 1/2-inch narrower than stock? Toyo makes a nice all-season tire. NedM put a set on his new Rx8. Not sure if they come in 245/45-16 though...

Try the BFG KD. These are supposed to be the ultimate "real" street tire.
