I just got a set of new 17x8 mustang rims and I want to get them painted or something. I asked the local powder coaters about that option, but it's beyond my budget. Ideally I'd like to get some sort of dark grey clear coat to look as close as possible to a dark smoked chrome. Does anyone know if such a thing exists and if it would look good or not. Otherwise I'd probably get them painted in gunmetal. Thanks

 

I would go to your local auto parts store and browse through their paint selection. To paint them... I would strip the rims w/aircraft stripper, then sand w/600 grit until you get them to where you like. Then prime, paint, and clear.

I am about to do it with my FD rims.
