Pettit Racing Flares, what size rims?

Im planning on some new rims for my car which is going to have Pettit flares on and im not sure on the sizing & offset required. I know i'l need at least 18" with about +20 offset? One main problem i have is that here in the UK prices for wide rims are in the £2k+ bracket! Any rims you guyz recommend? Im looking at up to $1500...also where to buy them from

Please post pics of any rims you guys recommend

Thx

Rixio

Why don't you ask Pettit? Do a search...this has been answered several times before.

Big wheels and tires cost money.

It's going to be really tough to find any good quality wheels in that size for $1500. I would reconsider getting the flares if you don't have the money or not willing to spend the money on proper wheels/tires. I would say you will have to at the least double your budget to get some decent wheels/tires. Good luck though.

Oh ya, use "pettit flare" as a search and there's a thread with pics and I think wheel size people are using.

CCW in Florida (Complete Custom Wheel) has excellent quality, well priced, lightweight 3 piece wheels and will know the offset you need.

18x10 front and 18x12.5 or 18x13 wheels are about $2400 less tires. The tires in 285/30/18 size up front on the low end are $200 each (Kumho MX) and 335/35/18's out back are closer to the $400 range each.

Budget $4-4.5K (USDollars) for rims/tires, and then the bodywork necessary to install those flares and paint the car. It is an expensive undertaking.

Iv already asked Pettit they said 11-12", but i wanted to know what you guys are running. Also a nudge in the right direction for where to buy cheaper rims from would be nice $4.5k for rims is rediculous though...i can get work VS-SS direct from japan for £1400 but id have to wait 3 months as they have to be custom made to the correct offset. I mean Racing Harts are only £1800. Iv been thinking of 18" TSW Thruxton Deep Lip 9.5" with either et20 or et30 with 10/20mm spacers? (This way i can use them before i get the wide arch and at least still use them on the stock arch fd)

I dont have to worry about the bodyshop bill because its a mate of mine whos gona be working on it. I thought its a pretty simple job to fit them anyway, i want them bolted not molded.

CCW have really nice rims but i cant do Chromes, as here in the UK theyd be screwed within a few months

1. CCW are NOT chromed!
2. You are misunderstanding offsets and spacers. You cannot run low offset wheels with the stock fenders...and spacers will only make this worse.
3. Running 9.5" wheels with the Pettit flares will look really dumb and is a waste.
4. What's your hurry? If you can get the Work wheels you want for a good price, wait the three months. The car will be in the body shop for a couple of weeks anyway, no doubt.

Note, there may some price missunderstanding going on in this thread because he's talking English pounds. 1500 pounds is currently about $2600 US.

If I were you i'd call CCW and get the real widths those flairs will allow you. I'm pretty sure they can do other finishes besides polished alluminum (note: NOT chrome).

Ok im probably missunderstanding but...isnt the normal size of FD rims meant to be 9.5" with et30/35 so the wheels fit flush with the stock arch? So if i bought the wheels with that size and then when the arches come, i use spacers to bring them out wouldnt that work?

Im in a rush because the largest rotary show in the UK is at the end of next month so id like it to finished before then

I've never heard of a 9.5" wheel fitting with 30/35 offset. 38 at the minimum.

I suppose you COULD space it out for flairs after that, but:

A: 1.5" to 2" wheel spacer is awfully big... i'm not sure that's even safe. Most are like 10-20 mm

B. So this is all about looks? Because 9.5" wheels will look pretty stupid w/ 2" flares. You can put 11" wheels on the back of the car w/ out flares.

Just so there's not misunderstanding. It's 4-4.5k USD for wheels and tires, not just rims. If you are willing to spend £1400-£1800 you can pretty much get great wheels/rims. Of course you'll have to spend some more money to get proper tires. But the CCW doesn't seem to be out of your price range. They have a pretty quick turn around, I would call and talk to them.
Oh ya, as for installing the pettit, make sure your friend cuts your fender if you get really wide wheels/tires. I have 18x11.5 in the rear with 315s and they wouldn't fit without cutting. Good luck.

I don't know if you noticed but you know when you are driving. Like that thing that an Rx-7 is good for. Have you ever noticed that if you had shitty tires you might skid off the road and die?

If you can't pay don't play.

CCW's with Pirelli PZERO Giallo's will be the cheapest. Also, why get flares? If it is a rotary show I doubt knowledgable people will be impressed by wide wheels and flares.....

Maybe it is just me but at our meets we talk about pretty much anything but how our cars wheels look mad dope
