Question Performance Friction Brake Pads

I've heard some great stuff about these, and am thinking of trying the 93 compound.

I'm mainly looking for a pad I can run on the road course and the street. Not too concerned with dusting, but the squeeling drives me insane. I'm not sure that what I'm looking for is entirely possible----a brake pad suitable for hard running on the road course yet will still bite when cold on the street.

Here is a link to the PF pads:

Any firsthand experience would be very helpful .

PF 90 or 93. Don't bother with the Z-rateds on the track or street. They dust too much on the street (cold bite is not the greatest), and they fade pretty readily on the track...Yes I have first hand experience with the Z-rated compound, but strictly anecdotal evidence with the PFC 90/93 compounds. I've read that the 93s should be up front and 90s in back. The later compounds are prohibitely expensive...

Give Porterfield R4 or R4Es a try for track and occasional street use (to/from track).

If you don't like changing pads for track, I've had great results with EBC Greenstuffs and with stock Mazda Sumitomo FD Type RS/RZ pads. Cold bite for both are very good, dust is minimal, and track bite is outstanding, and hold up well with 20-minute hard track lapping sessions. In my experience the compounds in the Greenstuffs and Sumitomos perform so similarly, you could probably use them at either end of the car, and not feel the difference.

The Sumitomo Type RS/RZ pads are from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development. They're about the same price as EBC Green Stuffs. You might give the Green Stuffs a try (Tire Rack?), and see if you like them. If you do, then I'd just stay with them. I get the Sumitomos because with OEM pads you get the shims and the M-spring kit for the Type RS/RZ calipers, which I like to replace after two sets of brake pad changes. Good luck, Cap!

Manny, you must get different EBC pads out there, coz the UK versions suck big time.

I would be interested in the pad model numbers for the PF pads, as I can get hold of them over here in the UK, just cant find the right part code for them. I have used the 83 compound on AP 4 pot calipers, and loved them.
