Oversized brake rotors

Ok, My car is away in winter storage so I can't check this out on my car but I was wondering if anyone on here knows where I can get new rotors. I don't want to get anything fancy I just want new solid rotors cause the ones I have are finished. If no one can help me I guess I will have to go back to the stock rotors.

If I return to the stock sized rotors would I notice a difference in my braking distance or feel?

I don't think I've ever seen an oversized rotor that fits OE applications.

You can get new rotors at your local auto parts store. If you know the year and trim package then they'll be able to get a correct set for you.

Some models came with the 4 Piston Caliper w/ vented discs in the front and 1 piston w/ vented discs in the rear.

Base models came with single piston w/ vented discs front and single piston solid discs in the rear.

Braking distance and feel are results of many factors, not just rotors.

Oversized rotors? What year is the car? Does it have the larger RS/RZ brakes?

Its ok. My car is a jdm fd and it has and oversized rotor with the stock 4 piston caliper on the front. I know its oversized cause the stock 16s dont fit on it and there is a bracket moving my caliper farther out.

If I can't find out about the rotors I will just run a nice stock sized rotor.

Thanks for your time.

could be anythign really, i've seen those kits sold in a bunch of magazines over there. Sometimes they'll have Z32 calipers too. Is it a one piece rotor like something off of another car? or a 2piece that could be custom?

you probably have these brakes:
https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-archive-112/2002-rx-7-spirit-r-brakes-218468/
They are quite nice and rather rare. Only 17" wheels fit those brakes.

I have a pair of used front rotors sitting in my garage for that setup. I used to buy direct replacements direct from Mazda Motorsports.

Thats what I originally thought I had but mine isnt a drilled rotor, its just a 1 piece solid rotor, My calipers are the same as those thou but same as the regular calipers for an fd. If no one can help me find a supplier for the rotors I'm just going to run the stock rotor size again and remove the spacer.

You can probably order those RZ rotors from Corksport, it won't hurt to give them a call.

Doesn't matter whether its drilled. If you read the thread to the end you'll see that most people wound up with the larger solid rotors.

I don't think the RZ Brakes use a "caliper adaptor bracket". I believe that is actually cast into the caliper itself.

MEASURE THE DIAMETER AND WIDTH OF THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS ALSO.

That's all we really need to concern ourselves about.

For that reason i'm not sure if this is actually a 99 spec caliper.

However, it's possible the previous owner made his own caliper bracket, purchased RZ rotors and made it work.

Yeah thats kinda what I'm thinking too. Can't be 100% on that thou cause my car is parked. I'll wait till I take the car out and give another good look over. The rotors will still last me until I get something new so I'm not 100% desperate for anything yet.

Ok, I went to see my rx today and I can confirm that my brake setup is from the 98+ years. Now here is my new problem. The guy I get all my parts from japan keeps telling me that a 93 rotor will fit on my car. I know that it won't since I have the 98+ spec brakes. Who knows how I can easily get rotors for my car and also will 93+ pads fit the 98+ calipers or do I need to order pads while im at it?

While I agree you probable have the 99 + spec RZ Rotors (check dia. 314 mm) your parts guy is also correct as most '99+ cars still used the smaller brakes. The pads are the same size.

That is the case; the extra was cast in.

You might have a custom setup if you have a 'spacer' as you mentioned in a previous post. The Rs/RZ caliper used in the bigger brakes don't use a spacer. However, I've seen some custom setups that do.

MaczPayne provided a source in an earlier post. Did you try them?

Why don't you pull the rotor and measure it? Here's what you need:

This place can make just about any size rotors (or you can send them to rotors to recreate):
