Based on crude meaqsurements in the driveway I believe that the pivot axis' for the lower control arms under my 1990 Rx7 are inclined downward towards the front of the car!

The distance from the center of the front pivot bolt to the ground appears to be approximately 1/2" less than the distance from the center of the rear pivot shaft to the ground.

I thought lower control arms were always set with the pivot axis parallel to the ground???

Can anyone provide some knowledge?

yes, its called anti-dive or anti-squat depending if its on the front or back of the car. just do a search for it on the net, there should be alot of stuff about it.

Everything is more complex then what it seems. If your thinking of building your own suspension, you havent even seen the TIP of the iceburg!

Based on what I have already read, I will never try to build my own suspension.

I am grafting a FC suspension, including subframe, onto an FB.

I have already made several mistakes and will likely make more.

But, I will have learned something.

I graduated from Naperville Central in '72, later from North Central!

This be a pretty hard thing to pull off and have it handle predictably. The reason for this is that the geometry of the suspension was designed to work for the rest of the FC car. I’m sure the wheel base of the FC, center of gravity, ride height and so on are much different then the FB. Who knows what its going to handle like?
