Ok tire ***** bring it on....federal ss595

just browsing through the latest sport compact car mag (aug 04) on page 125 there is a ad for Federal tire's ss595 . i know that general federal tires are the cheapest tire you can buy.... but upon looking over reviews found not one negative feedback on Ss595. the only negative feedback i could find was consistently the"i would pick kumho because i havent heard of federal" but all those who tried liked the bang for the buck. all the negative inputs are jsut people leaning towards names and not performance. anyone have these tires. if you dont want to fess up to paying less for your tirews pm me:-p since name brands seem to hold gold around the net. another cheapo tire in question is the Fuzion by bridgestone aimed at the lower income performance market(RICERS....yeah yeah yeah) [url]http://www.federaltyres.com.au/news/release_ss.htm[url] ... let the name brand flaming begin. im pennywise but not cheap but if there is a tire thats got bang for the buck i want in..otherwise im just going to continue with the avs e100 im thinking of buying.. but dont get sidetracked dont tell me to get the yokos . tell me if you have any experience with the federals or fuzions later :-)

Stock-size tires aren't that much money even for the top brands... how much are you really saving per/tire with even the cheapest tire (even a khumo Exta Supra 712)?

Will you then go out and pay money for handling "upgrades" like shocks, lowering springs, sway bars, etc.?

Nothing will affect the handling of your car more than the tires you have mounted, so if your looking to unload your car with minimal investment, or need a cheap tire to pass inspection and are planning to upgrade wheels in the future or something, i don't think this is the best place to cheeze out.

I guess he told you Pete Anyway you get what you pay for. Naturally there is the case of diminished returns but it all depends on what you will be doing with the tires. I went with the yoks and got what I paid for.

I've read plenty of negative reviews of Khumo 712's on the tirerack site, the general consensus being that they are hard as rocks.

As far as Fusion or Federal brands, I haven't seen too many reviews but i'd have to ask who the reviewers are.... are they serious enthusiasts who have experience driving their cars in situations that would test the tire at its limits? Or are they kids with civics who put them on and declared them "grippier" than the OE tire?

Tirerack has put most of the tires they test through a track test on identically prepared BMW's, and you can see the difference in the laptimes between the top tires, and lesser/cheaper ones. Sure there are some lower-priced models out there that offer nearly as good performance for less money, but once again, for the sizes your talking about, you're not looking at lot of money from best to worst.

I put 275/35 and 255/35 18" toyo T1s on my car for $185 per/tire, so i'd look at this the opposite way: It really wouldn't cost you that much more for one of the proven best...

The fact that you went out and got 7 inch wide rims for your FD (I'm assuming you have an FD, correct me otherwise) tells me that you're not serious about performance. Go ahead and give the fuzions a try and let us know what you think

hmm captain jackass(me) needs to update his profile... i have a blown up t2 now. when i have nothing else to do i play wish list and put aside funds for the crap i cant buy until i rebuild my engine.. the reviews i read were good some comming off of wrx and z3s which i know dont come with cheesy tires stock. others include 944s 325is and so on. i think ill blow some cash on these i mean they have to be better than thse damn 16 inch nascar eagles i have on my japanese t2. looks crazy as shiznit with NASCAR written on it. im used to s2000s as far as grip is concerned so we will see how they handle. i think ill go with fuzions over federals. we will see how much they cost from my inside source than ill make a decision. later
