offset question

offset question

Hi, i am just not sure what is an offset ?
The queston is if a car's orginal(recommended) rim offset is 45, will it be able to use a naftermarket wheels tat with a offset of 42 ? thanks guys!

not a pro on this stuff but i think offset is measured in mm so that's only a difference of 3mm

given that the same sized tyres from different companies vary by 5mm or more i'd say you'd have no problems

as to what offset is

it is the difference from the center of the wheel to the face that bolts to the hub

so 0 offset means the bolting face is at the center of the wheel

45mm offset means it is 45mm off set

too much offset means the tyre will foul the guards when the suspension compresses

think you're going for 3mm offset less, so no problems
