Question off set/fitment question

Found a style of rim I finally like they come in a 17 by 7 and a 18 by 8.5 would the 18 by 8.5 fit on the rear of a 89 t2. I want to run as wide a rear as possable since I'm to the point that I'm getting extreme traction problems. and am still running the factory turbo set up till my winter rebuild of the turbo system. I'm hopeing to fit a 255 on the rear for normal street use at the least.

While I'm thinking of it I will moddify the rear if needed.

Keep the offset down to +40 or less, and it should be fine with the 8.5" in the rear.

The rears will easily handle a 9" wide rim, so I dunno why you're stuck on 8.5"?
