OEM FD Rims

How prevalent is the problem of the unreinforced FD rims developing cracks? Is it likely to happen during regular street driving? Does it result from abuse at the track, etc.?

I've read about the problem with these rims on this forum and in the Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook. A search of the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's web site yielded no information. If it is such a big problem, one would think that there would have been a government recall?

Even though I have a 95, up until recently my car was running on 10-year old non-reinforced OEM wheels. After 10 years and several auto-x and a few track events -- no cracking whatsoever. This is with street tires. Race tires might promote cracking.

I have never seen it first hand, nor have I ever spoke with anyone who has seen it first hand. IMO, the porblem is not as bad as it has been made out to be.
