No more hawk hp+...no more squeek...yaaaaay!

dont get me wrong, the hawk pads are awesome but they build up soooo much brake dust. i couldnt live with squeek any more so i switched back to stock pads. So if anyone is thinking about getting the hawks...make sure you can live with what sounds like a huge screeching bird. i could only handle it for 500 miles....anybody want some hawk hp+ pads??? haha

Unless you are road racing your car, the stock pads should be more than adequate. They stop well, are quiet, last a long time, and don't make too much dust. Even for autocrossing, the stock pads are generally pretty good.

HP+ pads don't squeak if you know how to install them correctly. I've gone through 3 sets, no problems with squeaking.

Dust is another issue, yeah they dust a lot.

I have HPS's on mine and they are like a slightly upgraded stock pad. No squeal, very little dust. A friend had the HP+'s on an FC and they dusted very heavily, but there was no squeal. He went through 2 sets.

just switched from greens to hawks and imo the greens are junk. they were cracked with about 50% of the pad left. i was running solid rotors and do almost all street driving, so there's no reason why they should have disintigrated like they did. so far, the hawks (+) are holding up and seem to have better bite when they're cold.

jeff, what is the 'right way to install them'? a freind of mine has a set of hps+ for her FC, and they squeel like crazy. What type of pad 'goo' do you use?

I just use some spray on stuff I found at Napa, I've had the can for years. Spray a little on the back of the pad, install the shims and your good to go. It helps to have the original pad shims on the back side. There are two for each front pad, 1 stainless and the other is rubber coated steel. If they are in bad shape you can buy them new from Mazda.

I might get a little peep out of the HP+ when cold but it is very minor.
