Hoosier DOT race tires divions needs your HELP!

http://www.hoosiertire.com/fmvsshlp.HTM

You'll have to read it all..

Cliff notes:
Department of Transportation is enacting new rules in the wake of the Ford/Firestone fiasco. And with the new provisions, Hoosier Racing tires may be eliminated from thier line of tires, or may become prohibitively expensive. Link provides an avenue to let your opinion be known.

martini,

Thanks for the heads up. I've mobilized my Motorsports Driving Club to show our support for Hoosier Racing Tires!

Exclamation Potential legislation against DOT-legal race tires

You guys may want to consider following these directions to petition against potential legislation that would either significantly increase the price of, or completely do away with DOT-legal race tires. Just what we need is some more legislation!

Thumbs down New tire law will affect race / drag tires

I'm really disturbed to read that new tire laws may affect the availability of r-compound tires for grassroots use in this country. Listen to this:

"As a result of the Ford/Firestone controversy, Congress passed the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act of 2000 (TREAD Act). This document proposes to establish new and more stringent tire performance requirements in a new Federal motor vehicle safety standard that will apply to all new tires for use on vehicles with a gross weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less... These new guidelines will have a devastating impact on Hoosier Racing Tire Corp.'s ability to continue to offer a DOT specialty tire for several markets."

Please take a minute to submit a comment on the government page linked on the hoosier tire company site:
