I purchased a set of Forgestar F14 17x10 in a +50 offset. No tires on them yet, and won't know how they fit over my current brake setup until I am closer to finished with the build.

pre 2014
19mm spoke thickness 1400Lb load rated "thin spoke" Forgestar F14 17x10 inch wheel= 17.75Lbs.

The thin spoke F14 are missing the webbing from spoke to barrel (only connected spoke to lip).

Supersession
24mm spoke thickness 1520Lb load rated "thick spoke," "regular spoke" Forgestar F14 17x10 inch wheel= 19.25Lbs

The thick spoke F14 have webbing from spoke to barrel as well as connecting directly to the lip.

From the famous S2000 thin spoke Forgestar F14 wheel failure video-

I see a LOT of really familiar designs in their catalog. Wonder if that's why they don't have a Japanese distributor...

'Knockoff' Wheelmaker Rota Warns Of Knockoff Rota Wheels

Pretty ironic Rota now has to worry about knock off Rotas.

Forgestar?

They have familiar/popular designs for sure, but I don't see anything that is a direct knock off of another wheel.

They are SAE JWL VIA, so I would say they have plans to sell wherever they can.

I have to say even the US distribution wasn't good back in 2013 when I bought mine.

I believe they make the wheels in China and then ship them to another facility where they are machined to bolt pattern/offset and powdercoated.

The nice part about that is? if you are willing to wait 6 months you can get the right offset wheel with a custom order. Like my 18x11 +45 that fits FD and RX-8 front/rear with 295 tire.

Great since the Japanese wheel companies won't make wide monoblock wheels in good offsets for the FD.

A quick search on Yahoo.co.jp showed you can get them in Japan through specialty importers, but with that added cost there is probably better options already in Japan.

Volk already makes the right wheels for the rear of Porches- maybe you can convince them to make them in FD 114.3x5 bolt pattern?

Used rims are easy to find here, but you can never find a set of four 9, 9.5, or 10Js, and anything that wide that is also cheap new usually comes in absurdly low offsets. Most used 9s come as a set with two 8s.

I don't really want to spend $1500 on new rims on a car that didn't cost much more than that. Haha.

The thread title looked great, but $250 per wheel is about $100 more per wheel than is fair. Fail.

There is something called economies of scale. Few people want 17x10 +50 wheels for FDs and S2000s. These wheels cost more to make in low quantities.

I just bought a set of 4 17x10.5 +27 wheels for my FC for $396 shipped to my door. That is because they are for a Mustang, a car people by wheels for all the time, and the wheels are made by the thousands.
