Unhappy Need strut help please...

I was just informed that I may have a bad strut in the rear of my 93 FD.

Can anyone tell me what is the best thing to get.
The car is 99% street driven with very very little racing.
I do not have a ton of money to spend but I still want to put quality parts in the car.

Thanks is advance.

Now I have 2 shops telling me 2 different things. One shop says it's the lower control arm bushings. The other shop says its the strut. Mazduh wants too much money for the replacement parts but no one else any I have found has the bushings for the control arm or replacement control arms.
Does anyone have any suggestion or know anyone that sells the bushings for the lower control arms?

Thanks!

Most likely it's ur bushings if u get some clunking sounds from the rear. Have you tried www.mazdatrix.com for bushings?

What are the symptoms that you're experiencing in the rear end.

FWIW the rear shocks (FDs have shocks NOT struts) don't really go bad on an FD. The front shocks do though.

Depending on the age or your FD, it's most likely the rear suspension bushings. Mine have been shot for years (94,000), I finally replaced them last season. No it's not a cheap job to do. The parts alone were ~$400 from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development. The labor was 2 solid hours--book rate will be 4 hours (AIM Tuning/Iridium Racing Paul D'Angelo is GOOD! http://www.aimtuning.com/home.htm).

If you don't have competition parts purchasing privelages from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, then the bushings will run closer $650 from the Mazda dealer parts counter.

If you're not a Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development member here's the direct weblink to join: http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/weba...?storeId=10001

You must race your FD twice per year. Send the race results to Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, and you'll be eligible for the parts discounts.

Racing results can be from any sanctioned racing body. Most FD owners autocross and drag race. Those with deeper pockets actually road race (Iridium Racing's Paul D'Angelo in SCCA ITS http://www.aimtuning.com/home.htm). The cheapest route is autocrossing with your local SCCA Solo II chapter.

You will NOT receive parts purchasing privelages until Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development receives your official race results from TWO competition events.

FWIW, I stink at autocrossing, but do TWO SCCA Solo IIs per season to maintain the parts purchasing privelages. I could NOT afford to track my FD WITHOUT the Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development parts program! It's the only factory comp parts program--that I'm aware of--which is why I have NOT transitioned to PCA club racing a Porsche 911 YET.

Good luck!
