..Kuhmo ECSTA Supra 712's? I've got the stock 16" wheels, I'm thinking of 245/45 These just need to get me around town and maybe 1 or 2 autocrosses before I get a set of Victoracers

Get the Ecsta Supra MX, it blows the Supra 712 away.

How much money are you planning on spending? The 712s are about 100 bux right? For that price range you have the option of...

- Fuzion ZRi ($85)
- Sumitomo HTR Z ($87)
- Kumho 712 ($95)
- Yoko ES100 ($97)

I have a pair of Fuzion ZRi in the back (245/45/16) with about 200 miles on them. So far I really like them. These replaced my worn out Bridgestone S03s ($195 ea.) that I had back there.

Heres some info on the 712s..

I'm only looking to spend around $100 a tire, so the BFG's, and Supra MX's are out.

Wan, You really like those Fuzion ZRi's? I've never heard anything about them.

Also, what kind of handling change can I expect going from the 225's in the front to 245's? Should I run 225's in the front again, and put 245's on the rear?

The Fuzions are pretty new. I was waiting for someone to try them out but a nail in my tire forced me to be the guinea pig this time. The fact that Bridgestone makes them made my decision a bit easier. They also have a 30 day test drive manufacturers warranty. If you dont like them, send them back. Heres a link to them: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....&tireModel=ZRi

Im running 225/45 up front and 245/45 in the rear. Once the front S03s run out, I'll be running 245s all around. So far Im pretty happy with the ZRi's. The dry traction feels good and the tires are pretty predictable. I havent had a chance to try them out in the wet since So. Cal. hasnt seen any yet.

Thanks Wan, I'll look into those as well. I think I'll just put 245/45's on all 4 corners on whatever I do decide on.

Good choice

Check out the Toyo T1-s. Very good tire at a price in your ball park.

What about a 245/45x16 that is also pretty good for autox or HPDE? And priced at $100 (more or less)? How much does the list change?

Are you asking for you or for me? I'd imagine any decent max performance or ultra high performce street tire would do well for both. I've got a set of 16" Borbet Type C wheels a friend is giving me that I'm planning on mounting Victoracer V700's (about $150 a tire) on for the future, and those will serve me for Autox and HPDE. Whatever I get now will be strictly street tires.

Wow, a resounding amount of praise for the T1s! Too bad Tirerack doesn't carry them so that the message board could get that 5% off the sale.

Well, both.. I should have specified Autox, HPDE and street... tire wear isn't too important as I do only about 5k-6k miles/year... and since after 5 years, you should look to swap tires anyhow, 25k-30k treadlife is plenty... even 20k miles till replacement would be OK...

holy crappo, reading the reviews of the Fuzions on tirerack as well as several other tire websites and it makes them sound too good to be true. I'm definately gonna have to try out a set of those. If they're that good then the tirerack price is a steal.

It's not a discount, but part of the sale goes towards rx7club.com. THere was an announcment thread about it, but it's gone now.
