NY Need help selecting rims and tires

these are the rims I want to get I have a 91 vert black... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-Sp...ht_4045wt_1217 ... or these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-XX...ht_3927wt_1197 .. anyone know why people use 225/40/17 in front but use a size smaller for the back when it comes to the side wall???? 255/35/17 rear???? I have a chance to get a set of the sportmax 962 17" with tires for $400 not staggered though...should I just hold out for the staggered??? anyone have any leads on other staggered rims black with polished lip????

the tire heights are different because it height is in proportion to the width, otherwise the back tires will be taller, give it a truck look.

The series isn't what's important, its the overall diameter. Since you say 91 vert, I'm going to assume NA, in which case staggered is unnecessary and will make the car slower and handle worse. I'd advise getting 17x8, ~30mm offset and 225/45/17's all around.

well actually I have swapped a stock twin turbo 13b-re cosmo engine...it dyno at 280hp (modistly tuned) to the wheels for now until I fully break in the engine...then it should run about 330 with meth injection... what kind of performance benefits do you get from staggered wheels??? I also removed the power steering (yeah thanks a lot guys for recommending that one wish I would have kept it I don't see any benefit in that mod either!!)

First of all i would not trust my life rolling on sportmax wheels.

Second, i would ask around what recommended offsets are for how aggressive you want to go, if not measure it up and find out that way.
