Well what do ya think about the 265?

depends (not just an undergarment)

I suppose if it is i could 265/40/17
265 was actually the size I wanted for my 9.5 rears, but they didn't have it in the RA-1's. I thought 275's would be too much of a differential from my 235's up fron caausing me to understeer.

Since you are more of a drag/street racer rather than a road race or autocross (as far as I know) addict I would think you would want as wide of a contact patch in the rear as you can get.

Just so you guys understand my rears are 9" wide not 9 1/2"

Thats why I just wanted confirmation on a 265 fitting.
I understand that a 275 would be to wide for my 9" rim.

Correct?

Yep. Just run the 235/45 and 255/50 or 265/40 sizes discussed earlier. You'll be set.

Those look really nice. I've never seen that style rim before. I bet they're pretty light.

JPandes, they are very light. If I had a scale I would weight them.

Kuhmos are just as good as any other Japansese tire.
I have been through nitto 555r drag, 455, Yoko a520, Poteza so2, Dunlop sp5000. I talked to Peter and Ryans dada about what tire to get. They both suggested Kuhmos or Sumitomos. The kuhmos were priced right and they had those sizes in stock in the kuhmos so thats why i got them.
Peter told me that most all the Jap tires are good quality.
I was hesitant at first about them but for the price I figures I had nothing to lose.

I would recommend the AVS ES100 over the Kumho. They are decent for the price, but I like the ES better. Treadpattern and all. They are not much more at all, if any.

They aren't bad but you could do alot better for a little more money. I've had both Kumho and Yokohama and I'll take the Yokohamas anyday

The AVS ES100's were the tires I was going to buy. I was all set in my head when I called there. The rears were on back order till late June at Tirerack.com so I settled for the Kuhmos instead. I am trying to get all this stuff done before rotorfest in Late June.
So I really didnt hjave alot of choice. I would have taken the Yokos also.
But the Kuhmos were available and the price was good. My budget was $550. So I did have more cash to spend, i just didnt get a chance to.
Bastards, making me feel bad. LOL

Khomos are prolly OK, they're just a little hard. Don't expect to suck man-hole covers up.
