My review of my Kumho SPT

Here’s my review of my Kumho SPT:

I’ve got 225/45/17’s on 17x8’s on my S5 NA, with stock springs and shocks, the rest of the suspension is pretty much all aftermarket (sways, endlinks, braces, bushings, DTSS). I use the car for daily driving, autocross and track days. I’ve used Falken FK-451’s before.

These are great tires! They’re incredibly cheap, but are great tires nonetheless, for the price, they simply can’t be beat. They’re not the stickiest out there, but unless you’ve got huge power and problems with wheel spin or are competing for an STS2 championship or something, then they’re more than enough. Besides, they’ll last longer than the stickier tires, so that makes them even more affordable.

They’ve got excellent wet handling and grip. They loose far less in the wet than most tires. They’ve got good dry handling and grip, at autocross I’m able to beat turboed coilovered Miatas on Azenis in a tight parking lot, and at the track they were enough for me to be able to pass things like race slick shod 911’s, M3’s, Boxters and so on. They handle abuse very well, I pushed them to the limit all weekend on track and other than wear (not that much actually), they showed no ill signs from the abuse.

I highly recommend these tires for street, autocross or track use. They’re just such a good deal, yet are such great tires. My next set of tires will be another set of SPT’s that’s for sure.

i agree the only downside to the spt that i've found is that the grip level is i little lacking and they flat spot after sitting over night but for the price they are pretty hard to beat!
