KYB AGX vs Tokico Illuminas?

I haven't found a solid answer to this, and I have searched the forums. But which is better? Pros/Cons? This will be going on an 88 FC3S RX7.

Basically I want to know which one is better performance wise. I plan on using these for a while, add GC coilovers later, the replace them with Koni shocks when I can afford them. Right now I just need some good replacement shocks to work with, while I am also fixing up a bunch of other things in my FC.

i think the AGX's will work with a higher spring rate. you can run up to about 450lbs in with the AGX's.

we have a set of AGX's that did 1 season on the race car, and another 3 on a different car doing track days, and then another year just on the street, and surprisingly they are actually still fine. we checked em when the car was apart for other stuff

This may not answer OP directly but can help. I had two sets of Koni yellows before (Peugeot 205gti and Galant VR4), a set of KYB AGX (Galant VR4) and Bilsteins (MR2 Turbo).

I think yellow Konis are overrated shocks, on both cars they were harsh even on soft setting and uncomfortable on the street whereas KYB AGX handled good and felt smooth and was easier to adjust. Bilsteins also felt real quality. I'd not hesitate to buy KYB AGX or Bilsteins again.

Having said that I will probably try Howard Coleman recommended Koni + Eibach combo on my FD and give Konis a last chance since many in the forum seems to like it.

That is pretty informative, although on a different car. I've also heard Koni Yellows are really good, and that is the plan to use them when I want to upgrade from the KYB AGX that I am currently planning on buying now. I would get Bilstein but, the fronts would take forever to get.
