Okay quick question. I've done reading and searching lately and im just trying to put the pieces of info i've found together--as I don't know jack sh*t about suspension.

Koni yellows have 3 'perches' highest being stock height, next is half inch, lowest is full inch....I got that from a post--correct?
(I'm sorry I'm not familiar with the correct terminology)

So if you use the RS*R DOWN springs(.6" rear and .8"front) , and have the koni's at the highest(stock) perch, the car will dropped .6 rear and .8 front, right?

If I perch them at the 2nd level, does that bring it down to ~1.1 rear and 1.3 front?


basically, does the amount of droppage of the koni's stack on to the droppage of the springs?

Does this affect the Ride harshness//stiffness at all? I.E. does it make the springs any more tense or whatever when the Koni's are perched at a lower-than-stock setting?

Yes, they do add up, no it won't affect the ride because the spring rate will be the same, however it will affect your suspension travel and could cause scraping. I would recommend keeping them on the highest perch since your springs are designed to be run with stock height perches, but the difference is actually quite small, only about 0.25" down on the middle and 0.5" down on the lowest, so its not as much as you think.

FD's have SHOCKS, correct?n ot struts?

I see koni's online for sale for FD's as struts(including RX7store.net)..and a couple sites have them listed as shocks........which..one do i get...?

 

yep. shocks.

Those shops just use the wrong terminology on their sites. Those companies don't make "struts" for the FD.
