Just ordered new wheels, need opinion on color.

I had just bought a set of BBS LM wheels in 18" for my BB FD. They should be in next week, and I was planning on having the center spoke section powdercoatded gloss black. Ive spent the past day or so searching for pictures on the forum of black mesh wheels/polished lip on a BB FD,and alls I can find is CCWs, which are still nice, arent quite a gloss black, and not sure would look the same. I know its my decision, but I was just looking for some other opinions. Keep them silver, or powdercoat black. Pic of the wheels :

Yes, similar to this:

I dont care about resale value, just wanting to make them look the best I can for my FD.

Where did you buy them from? Kinda been curious to find a place that sells them.

Black spokes would look hard.

I like the look of black centers. But LMs look great right from the factory.

If the glossy surface would help you keep them clean (in contrast to a rough surface with lots of places for dust to hide or grab on), that would be a nice plus.

Thats what I think, silver = class, black = intimidating.

IMO... Black = Amish.

Looks like your running a car with hubcaps.. lost the hobcaps and just shined up the stock steel wheels..

Sorry, But I'f I pay that much for wheels, I want them to set the car off, no dissapear into the tire......

Definitely keep them silver, they will stand out from the color of the car a lot more, and will look awesome cruisin down the highway.

Seriously keep them silver. according to those pics you want your multi thousand dollar wheels to look more like some 700-dollar-a-set fake 3 piece ricer knock off wheels? for the love of god, keep them the way they came.

Nothing wrong with trying a different look, something that makes your car standout from the other black FDs. Check out my 89 GTU before and after.

Here is a before with the 15" OEM wheels:

and here is a pic of the after look with 17" Victory wheels in gunmetal finish and brite rims and hubs:

just thought a comparison might be appropriate.

Silver all the way. This will give you an idea on a black car, though unfortunately not an FD:

Black centered wheels look HOT on a black car, i used to see one out at PFS from time to time that had black centered Fikse's w/ polished lips.

HOWEVER, the Fikse black is anodized, and is sort of a semi-satin look. Alot of Fikse dealers seam to have one all-black anodized demo wheels as well, and I think they look bad ***.

Unfortunately, I don't think paint (or powdercoat) will look like that really... it'll look sort of cheap on your very expensive LMs.

I'd leave 'em the way they are.

Yeah, y'all have a right to an opinion, even when your wrong. I don't think I was asking anyone if you like or dislike my car or how it looks, I was simply responding to RXMfn7's request for options and how the wheels would look. The guy was asking for options and I thought a comparison would be a better way of showing him his options than simply giving him an unqualified opinion.

I personally think that the black spoked wheels with brite rims and hubs are an exciting look that is derived from the muscle cars of the late 60's and 70's. I know change or being different scares some people and that's OK, others want to explore new looks and new ideas and expand our rotary options. I understand your limitations and apologize for shaking your snow globe:0) Peace Y'all.

Thank you for the oppurtunity to have a philosophical discussion about the impacts of wheel color on the visual paradigm in automotive design. Again we must conclude that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

IMO i would keep them silver. On the right car with the right wheels i think black wheels can look great (i have black wheels on my 944), but the LM's are just to sweet to paint black.

For reference purposes i have listed the BBS LM and the ASA AR1 below with pricing for your FD. Right now i have all of them in stock. However I only have 2 front and 2 rears in stock for the BBS LM. Due to the higher cost we only stock one set a time.

18X8.5 BBS LM - 801.00 - silver only
18X9.5 BBS LM - 837.00 - silver only

18X8 ASA AR1 - 219.00 - silver and black
18X9 ASA AR1 - 229.00 - silver only

Awesome wheels man. I've wanted those for so long but they're way to damn much. Anyways, keep em silver. Black with silver mesh is just awesome.
