Hey just wondering if anyone has used the JIC FLT A-2 coilovers and how well they like them for street and for track. And the Zeal Function coilovers. Any opinions on what is going to be better for street? track?

Ya I honestly don't think JIC can hold a candle to the quality of the zeals, nor the fine balance between driveability and trackability.

Zeals are price VERY WELL NOW...... I doubt there's much of a difference in price between JIC and ZEAL.

THEREFORE ZEAL FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI, I have had JIC's on 60% of my cars. Then dumped em, put the Zeals on and never looked back. NOW I'VE OPENED PANDORA'S BOX AND I'M SCREWED FOREVER.

WITHOUT ZEAL YOU HAVE NO PASSION. HEHEHEHE......

My buddy had/has JICs on his 350z, and they're not made very well. They don't have a little clip for the brake lines, and in general, they seem to be riding on the springs with not enough damping.

If you're doing racing, koni, bilstein, ohlins, etc.

for 5-6k minimum hahaha... god motons are nice though, yes. Zeal are good stuff, many of us in the 240 community like them. Function and Form are nice as well. For a real surprise ride for a while on some Tanabe pro7s

I had both and there is really no comparison. The Zeals are so much better, and get this, you can actually find parts and even some customer support if they ever need rebuilding.
Also, from what I've been hearing lately, JIC doesn't have the best rep in Japan.

JIC HAS NEVER HAD A GOOD REP IN JAPAN......

I found out that JIC means "Just is CRAP"...... HAHA, and this came from one of their own EX-Employees..... hahahahaha.....

But ya the other rumor is that JIC's aren't manufactured in Japan. Maybe assembly, but not all components are.

I've seen major rusting issues with JIC's, so much taht the locking collars and perches were seized. GAME OVER.....

Just adding one more vote for the Zeals. Ive had both, the JICs on my FC, and they were complete garbage IMO. The ride was so stiff it was rediculous, and they started rusting almost immediately. The Zeals I had for my FD (Bought through Rishie..) were of much, much better quality.

I'm so glad to hear that the response to Zeals has been very very consistent.

Here's another HUGE THING, whenever we have asked for custom valving changes with Zeal we've never had problems. They are very attentive to their end user's needs. JIC is also attentive but when dealing with them maybe 5 years back we always got valving that was not effective. SEnding dampers back and forth til it was done right. That might be different now considering they have been around the block but MOST CERTAINLY,

Quality of bushings, quality of coatings, overall build design, **** everything is better.

No HALF CLICKS that need to be meddled with on the Zeals.

okay so now that thats basically settled(thanks for the help), what should i go with from Zeal. My car puts down about 500 whp and is mostly street driven with a few track days here and there

Hey Rishie it's Kevin at Impact in Hawaii, finally got my FD so I'll be seeing you around on here now. I also had JIC on alot of my previous cars and the quality is good but nothing compared to Zeal or any high end japanese suspensions.

yeah and zeal does rebuilds I think it was $100 per corner for the super function rebuilds, which isn't bad considering the suspension is 3k+ new

TO START OFF JUST GET THE XS MODEL. MOST OF THE BIG POWER GUYS GO FOR THAT ANYWAYS.

For street driven vehicles they recommend sticking with the Steel Bodies for durability.

Function Xs = 6 way adjustable, has window to see # of setting you're at.


Function X = 30 way adjustable, does not have window, count clicks.

I have had the JIC's for over 5 years and maybe 10K miles. They seem OK to me, however my only other experience is the stock R2 suspension. But they have rusted somewhat and my car only see's water when I wash it. I do autocross quite frequently and many intructors like my setup( I know thats not all related to coilovers tho). I'm thinking about going with the Zeal Super Functions, maybe for next season. The 16KG spring rates should be an improvement over the 14/13KG rates in the JIC's.
