I think my tires saved my life this weekend

My tires saved my life this weekend. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3s

So yea, going to church, normally, a SUV is going terribly slowly in front of me. And they take the same freeway entrance as me. Well, it's impossible to enter into a freeway going at 35mph, so I merge out quickly (as in before the entrance. I usually do this, but not as sudden.) I checked my mirrors and there was one car far away, so I do a quick lane change.
Downshift to 3rd, gas it, switch lanes.

Big mistake.
I didn't check my blindspot, and I almost got sideswiped by a semi-truck. I suddenly countersteer to the right to not get hit, so that fixed it, but it was too sudden, so my car swerved to the right, underdersteering a bit. I countersteer again, and the car re-aligned itself.
Surprisingly, I wasn't freaked out. I was shocked, then calm. I only got freaked out afterwards, for a bit.
I'm pretty sure I would of totalled my car, if not dead, cuz like the truck was big, and I merged left, which is the driver side. Bad. BAD.

And my new tires just paid for themselves right there. They were so direct and grippy. They didn't even squeal AT ALL. It felt so "normal" to them. Awesome jawsome. If I ever need tires again, I'm 95% sure I'll get these again. Worth every penny.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3. Highly recommended. One of the best tires in the world. Highest rated tire on Tirerack.com. Came in 1st in Car and Driver tire shootout in Dec 2005, which included the highest end Michelins, Yokohamas, BF Goodriches, etc.

Yeah man I have those tires and really like them. Not sure how long they will last. But they rock

What size do you have?

Next time don't be in such a rush or look more carefully. It sounds like you got lucky this time.

I think tires is one of the most important factors when modifying.
But it sounds like it was close and it wasnt just the tires that saved you. Just be more careful hehe... You cant always be thats why there is insurance.

I think it is more the suspension than the tires (I have found my 7s to be agile on almost any tires) and maybe an alert trucker who saved you.

how did you not see a semi truck!? i dont think its possible for a semi truck to be entirely in your blindspot. i mean, if a giant semi truck is in the lane next to me, surely im going to hear or something. but whatever.

man you got lucky, glad it worked out in the end.

I'm running on stock 10AE wheels. Oh...my exhaust is ....stupidly loud (I bought it that way...I don't like it..) so I couldn't hear the truck. As for the blindspot, I really didn't see it, but nevertheless yes, I'll be a LOT more careful next time. This is the first time I didn't check my blindspot merging out. I'll merge out later and less suddenly next time.

I'm with you, good tires are pure gold; many people underestimate the difference quality rubber makes in a cars safety and handling.

Also glad to see you can admit your error and learn from it. Ya live longer that way.

Ah ha, you almost died (as well as put other innocent peoples lives at stake) going to church. Doesn't that seem kind of Ironic? Maybe you should worship a different god. "All praise Goodyear" $200 a piece? Goddamn thats pretty spendy...
